"Salt Lake Water School" opens June 27
Commissioned by the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and completed by Artist Oscar Tuazon, 'Water School' is described as an "educational space that treats water as a vital connector." The structure will be on Abravanel Plaza until Sept. 28, 2025. Learn more and plan your visit
Visit 'This was water"
Situated at the Dumke Arts Plaza in downtown Ogden, "This was water" provides a sensory experience surrounding five statues modeled after gypsum crystals. It's on display until April 2026. Read the Standard-Examiner's report here.
Check out "Vanishing Waters: Rising Voices"
On display at the Mestizo Institute of Culture and Art, Vanishing Waters combines visual art, dialogue, and performance art into a display raising awareness for the communities impacted by Great Salt Lake's decline. Experience 'The Great Salt Lake: An Uplifting Artistic Oasis'
Featuring collaborative efforts to support Salt Lake County's namesake body of water, the exhibit "emphasizes the importance and impact of the lake on our local community," according to Wake the Great Salt Lake.The display features works from the Salt Lake County Visual Art Collection. Share stories of the salty waters with Great Salt Lake Hopeline all year
By calling 979-GSL-HOPE (979-475-4673) or visiting an upcycled phone booth, community members can share their stories and interact with the sounds of Great Salt Lake. According to Wake the Great Salt Lake, collected voicemails will be used for future projects — the hotline aims to start lake-focused dialogue and spark hope for the struggling body of water. Take a field trip with Great Salt Lake Audubon
Great Salt Lake Audubon hosts field trips, presenting opportunities to take in the beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife surrounding Great Salt Lake! Upcoming trips:
- Strawberry Valley, June 14 from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Day-Riverside Library, June 18 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Cedar Mountains, June 21 from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Take a walk this summer with state park rangers
While walking along the beaches of the lake with Great Salt Lake State Park rangers, you'll be treated to facts about the natural and cultural history of the area and stunning views of the lake and its wildlife. Morning walks are planned for these dates:

Participate in Seven Canyons Trust's Range 2 River Relay
On Saturday, Sept. 20, participants of this relay course will explore Salt Lake Valley waterways through biking, running, and non-motorized boating. Participants can register as a team or individually. Click here to learn more.
