HERRIMAN, Utah — The Utah Royals unveiled a new uniform inspired by Great Salt Lake on Thursday morning.
A press release from Utah Royals said the uniforms were designed “in conjunction” with Nike and the National Women’s Soccer League. The team is set to kick off the 2025 season on March 15. They were inspired by “defining natural elements of Utah.”
The blue uniforms will act as the women’s soccer team’s secondary uniform.
Soccer teams typically wear their secondary uniforms during ‘away’ games, or matches that aren’t played on their home field, when their primary uniforms clash with their opponent’s, per an explainer on Charlotte Football Club’s website.
“Our organization is incredibly honored to represent the wonderful state of Utah,” said Utah Royals Vice President of Marketing Tyler Gibbons.
According to The Equalizer, a soccer news website, the Utah Royals secondary uniforms are part of a collection — each National Women’s Soccer League member team unveiled at least one new design.
The new uniform design is featured in a recent video shared to the Royals’ Instagram account.
Uniform unveiling accompanied by donation to Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust
In addition to the new secondary uniforms, the team will be making a donation in collaboration with one of their sponsors, America First Credit Union. The $10,000 contribution will go to Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust.
The trust works to preserve the lake and its surroundings by supporting collaboration on projects meant to increase and maintain water levels.
The press release said the team is committed to sustainability and conservation efforts. Their initiative is meant to honor, celebrate, and protect the natural wonders within the state.
Gibbons said the donation and the uniform design shed light on the soccer club’s identity.
“[It] defines what our club is all about; Community first.”
Utah Royals FC said the Great Salt Lake-inspired uniforms will also be on sale at their team store, located at America First Field. The press release said the replica jerseys will be available in an extended range of sizes.
